The standard engine being fitted is the Simpson S 217 (25.5 bhp) mated to a ZF 12M reduction gear. Originally started by a Scotsman with technology collaboration from Perkins, Simpson & Co. is one of the oldest companies in India. Further information about Simpson & Co. can be found here and you can right-click the links to download page 1 and page 2 of the manufacturers brochure. ZF Marine can be found here and you can download the manufacturers technical document from here.
But what if you don't want an engine or the one you want is too expensive to import into India?
One option is for buyers to specify the engine they require and we can then install and align the engine beds and stern tube (blanking this off!), pre-drill for the engine bolts, pipe up for the exhaust, raw water, and build in and pipe up the fuel tank(s). The engine could then be fitted later at the owners home port. This could be a much easier and cheaper option rather than us trying to import different engines into India. However you won't have to completely rely on the wind and tides, all the Gazelles are equipped with a yuloh!
